On December 25, Sinopec's MW-class renewable power electrolytic water hydrogen production demonstration project was successfully put into operation in Zhongyuan Oilfield. Cummins provided the 2.5MW container-type proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolytic water hydrogen production system for the project to be responsible for the production of zero-carbon green hydrogen.
Cummins HyLYZER ®- The 500 hydrogen production equipment is supplied in containers, and the supporting systems are highly integrated in two standard 40-foot containers. The system will use two 1.25MW electrolytic cells, with a total fixed hydrogen production of 500Nm ³/ h。 The equipment has successfully settled in the industrial park. After less than 2 months of intensive installation and completion of various system tests, it has been officially put into use. Cummins has also developed a complete supporting solution for the project to ensure the safe and stable operation of the equipment.
This is Sinopec's first 2.5MW level hydrogen production demonstration project by electrolysis of water, and also the largest proton exchange membrane hydrogen production unit for electrolysis of water that has been put into operation in China, marking a major breakthrough in the field of green hydrogen for Sinopec. The project will integrate the whole chain of solar power, electrolytic hydrogen production, hydrogen purification, storage and transportation, and build a 3.66MW photovoltaic power station and a 9MW wind power project to provide green energy for the project's production.
The project will use "green electricity" to produce "green hydrogen", and achieve zero carbon emissions throughout the process. The purity of green hydrogen reaches 99.9995%. The hydrogen produced every day can be used by 106 buses for driving all day. The annual capacity is nearly 400 tons, effectively promoting the development of China's hydrogen energy industry and helping to achieve the "double carbon" goal.
In the past 70 years, Cummins and its affiliated companies have provided more than 600 sets of electrolytic water equipment to the world, including more than 70 sets of PEM electrolytic water equipment, including the largest 20MW PEM electrolytic water project in operation in the world, located in Quebec, Canada, with a daily hydrogen production of about 8.2 tons.
Cummins new energy business will provide Chinese users with end-to-end green hydrogen solutions for the entire industrial chain through continuous technology and product innovation, as well as strong local operation and service capabilities.
